GENERAL QUESTIONS

VEGATEX transforms plant-based waste into patented vegan leather alternatives — AppleSkin™, LemonSkin™, BarleySkin™ — and supplies them to brands worldwide.

AppleSkin™ is made from apple pomace and peel left over from cider and juice production.

LemonSkin™ uses lemon peel by-products and offers a bright-toned alternative to darker plant residues.

BarleySkin™ is crafted from brewer’s spent grain, co-developed with Budweiser APAC in 2021.

Our entire process is intentionally designed to reduce environmental impact.

Yes, VEGATEX is PETA-approved and 100% animal-free — no animal ingredients, no testing.

Composed of mostly biodegradable materials, VEGATEX Skins are in the process of third-party certification.

Our coating is made with a waterborne PU that is REACH compliant, ensuring no detectable volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the collection. We have optimized the bio-based PU content to the highest possible level without compromising the durability and longevity of the material.

VEGATEX offers significant environmental advantages over animal leather and synthetic alternatives.
By upcycling plant-based by-products into high-performance materials, we reduce landfill waste and conserve natural resources.

VEGATEX sets a new standard for next-generation vegan leather.

Do not use bleach or alcohol.

Yes, however, similar to other natural fibers, our material should not be exposed to temperatures exceeding 100°C for extended periods, as it may compromise structural integrity or lead to degradation.

We are continuously researching flame retardant treatments for our materials. If you have specific flame resistance requirements, we are open to discussing and exploring tailored solutions together.

Vegatex Skin is water-resistant, but not fully waterproof. For applications requiring waterproofing, an additional treatment is necessary. We recommend cleaning with a damp cloth only, as full immersion in water may damage the material.

The material is sold as a fully finished product with a top coating. While you are free to customize it, please note that the coating may affect print adhesion. We recommend testing before proceeding with production, as we cannot guarantee the material will retain its properties after printing

At present, the material is optimally suited for applications in small leather goods, furniture, and interior design, with ongoing development aimed at meeting the performance standards required for the automotive industry.
